Five Steps to Work

A&D Recruitment have partnered with Gordon Yates to offer ‘Five steps to work’ to give personal and online support to job seekers offering techniques and resources to secure their next role.


  • This programme has been designed to give support to job seekers with the best possible tools, techniques and resources to secure their next role.
  • Tailored to the challenges of today’s job market, the programme will help you to stand out from the crowd, deal confidently with your CV preparation and succeed at interview.
  • Within each module, exercises and assignments help you put your learning into practice. The programme takes you through each of the core stages of successful job search while building a personalised bank of resources for you to keep and use after completion.
  • We offer one-to-one coaching and mentoring support. Before you begin, and after you complete each module, your personal coach is there to guide, encourage and support your progress.

Programme Content

The programme consists of five self-managed modules (or ‘steps’), each covering a core stage of the job search process, designed to run in parallel with your one-to-one support.

Module 1

It covers the vital first step of thinking about yourself - your values, motivators and skills - and how these shape the kind of job you should look for and where your strengths can bring the greatest value.

Module 2

Building from a basis of self-understanding, this module helps you identify your target market - where to focus your search efforts and how to make the most of the channels of communication available to you - equipping you with everything you need to target your job search effectively.

Module 3

This module focuses on the all-important CV - how best to present yourself, how to tailor your skills and experience to each role, and how to deliver a powerful message to prospective employers.

Module 4

For many people interviews pose the biggest challenge. In this module you will learn useful tools, tips and techniques to built confidence and help you sell yourself successfully in even the most challenging interview situations.

Module 5

Along with summarising your learnings, the programme concludes by addressing all the things you can do post-interview to stand out from the crowd and turn your interviews into job offers.

Programme time

Expected programme time includes approximately 7-8 hours of online training alongside up to 3 hours of one-to-one time with your personal career coach.

This is a flexible online programme and so is designed to fit with you schedule. You work at your own pace, start at whatever time suits you and take breaks whenever you need.

Each module takes about one-and-a-half hours to complete although, as with most things in life, the more you put in the more you will get out. Exercises and assignments are uploaded to the learning platform as you progress through the course, and on completion of each module your personal coach will provide feedback and support. Over the five modules, we expect your personal coach to spend up to three hours of one-to-one time with you.
